DRESSEMBER IS A COLLABORATIVE MOVEMENT LEVERAGING FASHION AND CREATIVITY TO RESTORE DIGNITY TO ALL WOMEN.
my friend Shelby has introduced me to one of my biggest passions of my adult life – fair trade and businesses and organizations that support bigger causes.
Dressember is one of those organizations that support a bigger cause. shelby did dressember last year and it really peeked my interest but i was just enough disconnected from causes that i just watched hers and enjoyed seeing other posts when i checked the hashtag. this year i manned up and chose to take a stand and join the movement.
for those of you that don’t know, Dressember uses fashion to advocate for women who’ve been exploited for their femininity. As women take on the creative challenge of wearing a dress for the 31 days of December, they are advocating for the inherent dignity of all women.
shelby and i created a team, #31daysofdresseingforfreedom along with a friend of hers, Stacie. we have teamed up to raise support for Dressember. if you would like to donate you can go here or click the photo to go to our team’s donation page:
over december we will each be wearing a dress every day, posting now and then a recap of it and posting on our instagram accounts daily what we wear. you can follow along by the hashtag, #31daysofdressingforfreedom or subscribe and check back here frequently.
shelby went so far as to challenge herself to wear the dressember dress every day in december. i chose to live with a little variety and i will be wearing the dresses from my closet.
we are so looking forward to this challenge! are you interested in joining the movement?
